The MPV Bridge
One box to watch everything on your property
Some gear has no cloud of its own: an IKEA smart-home hub, local sensors, a backup cabinet, cameras. The MPV Bridge is one small, silent box that reads them on your network and reports to My Monitor, so they show up on the same screen and alerts as the rest of your property.
- Set up and shipped by us, linked to your account before it arrives. Plug it in and it’s working.
- Nothing is opened on your network: no router changes, nothing exposed to the internet. It only reaches out.
- We keep it up to date automatically, and can see it’s healthy, so there’s nothing for you to maintain.
How it works
It reaches out, nothing reaches in
The Bridge makes one secure connection out to My Monitor and keeps it open. No ports are opened on your router and nothing is exposed to the internet.
It finds your equipment
Ask it to look, and the Bridge scans your network and your hubs for equipment, then you pick what to watch and name each one, right in the app.
Your logins stay on the box
A hub token or a camera login is entered on the Bridge at your property and never leaves it. My Monitor only ever sees the readings.
We look after it
Updates arrive by themselves, safely, and we can tell at a glance that your Bridge is online and well. No Home Assistant, no tinkering.
Backup and instant recovery
If the box ever fails, you’re back in minutes
Every MPV Bridge keeps an encrypted backup of your whole setup, your devices, their names and the sign-ins it uses, on a recovery drive that stays with the Bridge and is always current. If it ever fails, plug that drive into a replacement and you’re running again, current as of the last backup, with no passwords to re-enter.
One drive, always current
It updates itself every time your setup changes, so there’s nothing to remember to do.
Replace the box, not the work
Plug the drive into a new Bridge and it comes back exactly as it was. No re-pairing hubs, no re-typing logins.
Encrypted, and the keys are yours
The backup is encrypted and the keys stay on your drive, not on our servers, so even we cannot read it.
Optional safety copy
Want belt and braces? Keep a sealed copy in your account too, so even a lost drive never loses your setup.
Three bridges
All small, fanless and silent, sip power, and run 24/7. Pick by what you’re watching: solar and batteries, sensors and hubs, or cameras too.
MPV Solar Bridge
Reads your inverter and battery locally. No cloud needed.
- Reads your solar inverter and battery straight off the unit, every couple of seconds
- On your own network, no cloud account: a live dashboard and open data (MQTT, Home Assistant), with no internet needed
- Email alerts from the box (an internet connection is needed to send them)
- EG4 first, then Sol-Ark, Deye, Growatt, Luxpower and Victron
- Optional cloud upgrade ($8/month) adds text and on-call alerts, forecasting, savings, the full app and remote access
- Prefer your own mini-computer? The software is $59, one time. Order the software.
MPV Bridge
Everything except cameras.
- Reads IKEA and other smart-home hubs, sensors, backup cabinets
- Fanless mini-computer: Intel N150, 16 GB, 512 GB, silent
- Set up and linked to your account, then shipped to you
- Backup and instant recovery, built in
- First year of updates and support included
MPV Advanced Bridge
Everything the MPV Bridge does, plus cameras.
- Live video, snapshots and motion, with your sensors and hubs
- More power and a faster 2.5G network port for several cameras
- Comes back on by itself after a power cut
- Backup and instant recovery, built in
- First year of updates and support included
Already have your own computer?
If you’d rather run the Bridge software on a mini-computer you buy yourself, you can: we publish a list of boxes we know work, you install our software, and a small support plan ($8/month or $79/year) keeps it updated and supported, the same as our own hardware. Ask us and we’ll point you to the right box.
Cables and adapters
The Solar Bridge reads your inverter over a small USB to serial adapter. We don't sell them, but our guide lists the right one for EG4, Deye, Sol-Ark, Growatt, Victron and more, each with a link to buy it in the US or Canada.
Questions
Do I need to change anything on my router?
No. The Bridge only makes a connection out to My Monitor. Nothing is opened on your network and nothing is reachable from the internet.
What can it connect to?
Local gear that has no cloud of its own: IKEA (DIRIGERA) and other smart-home hubs, many sensors, ICT backup cabinets, and Tapo and other cameras. If you’re not sure about yours, ask and we’ll confirm before you pay anything.
Does it keep my equipment logins?
Any login you enter stays on the Bridge at your property and never leaves it. My Monitor only receives the readings and pictures.
What happens if the Bridge fails?
Your setup is backed up on a recovery drive that stays with the Bridge and stays current. Plug it into a replacement and you’re back up and running, with nothing to re-enter. The backup is encrypted and the keys are yours.
What if it needs an update?
Updates arrive on their own, safely, and roll back by themselves if anything goes wrong. There’s nothing for you to do.
Does the Solar Bridge need the internet?
For the live dashboard and open data (MQTT, Home Assistant), no: the Solar Bridge reads your inverter and battery right on your own network and shows them with no internet and no cloud account. Email alerts do need an internet connection to reach a mail server. The optional cloud upgrade ($8/month) also uses the internet, and adds text and on-call alerts, forecasting, savings, the full app and remote access.
Which one do I need?
For solar and battery monitoring, the Solar Bridge. For sensors, hubs and backup cabinets, the MPV Bridge. If you also want cameras, the Advanced Bridge. You can run more than one.
Ready when you are
Order a Bridge and we’ll set it up, link it to your account and ship it, ready to plug in. Not sure which, or whether your gear fits? Ask us first.
